Google Analytics is a web analytics tool that that tracks and reports website traffic. The guide below will outline the steps to access common web metrics. For more information about Google Analytics, including more advanced topics, visit the Google Analytics Academy. 

Step-by-step guide

1. ACCESSING GOOGLE ANALYTICS

Request access to Google Analytics by emailing computerhelp@audubon.org. In your request, specify the site URLS you need access to. For each URL, you will be granted access to a "property" in Google Analytics with data for each site.

2. TRAFFIC & AUDIENCE OVERVIEW METRICS

Navigate to the Audience > Overview. From this tab, you will be able to find answers to common web traffic questions, including:

  • How many users are accessing my site?
  • How many pageviews is my site receiving?
  • What is the average session duration?



3. CONTENT METRICS

Navigate to Behavior > Site Content > All Content. From this tab, you will be able to find answer the following common questions about your web content:

  • Where are users clicking (or not clicking) on a certain web page?
  • What's a quick way to see how many users on currently on my site?



4. TRAFFIC SOURCES METRICS
